Learning English with CBC

An exciting new resource for ESL teachers and learners in Alberta was recently launched by CBC Edmonton and Alberta Employment and Immigration.
The web project utilizes CBC Edmonton radio news and feature stories as tools for Albertans learning English.
The website resources are made up of two types of audio stories, each supported by ESL learning materials.

Alberta Teachers of English as a Second Language (ATESL)
is a professional organization that promotes the highest standards of ESL provision in Alberta. We are a thriving organization that provides many resources to our members, many of which are available from this site.
Check out the resources on our newly re-vamped Resources page, including the new Resource Database which includes ESL resources which have been funded and developed in Alberta.
Call for Proposals for Presentations
The theme for this year's conference is Engage, Empower, Excel which reflects the process English language professionals go through in order to help English language learners.
The Friday Keynote speaker is Peter D. MacIntyre, a full professor of psychology at Cape Breton University in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Saturday's keynote speaker, Valerie Mason-John, is an author, playwright, performer, professional anger management and self awareness trainer.
The ATESL conference committee encourages proposals related to all aspects of English language teaching best practices for instruction and administration. Both experienced and new presenters are encouraged to submit proposals.
The Call for Papers and online submission form are available here in: PDF format or Word format.
* The deadline for receipt of proposals is June 25, 2012 *
- All proposals need to be submitted via e-mail to: ateslconference2012@emcn.ab.ca
- The contact person for each proposal will receive email confirmation of the receipt of proposal within 5 days of submission.
- Notification of proposal acceptance will be emailed to the contact person by July 31, 2012
- Presenters must register by August 31, 2012 for the workshop to be included.
