- 4:30 - 5:00 p.m. - Snacks, beverages, and reconnect with other ESL practitioners.
- 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Consider the Goals by Renuka Jantz and Linda Sutcliffe
This presentation will address the perceived shortcomings of our current "standard" assessment process. While focusing on seniors, these specific challenges and possible solutions can be applied to any age demographic. A discussion will follow the presentation.
Renuka is an instructor with the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers in the senior’s community English program. She has several years of experience from tutoring ESL to supporting learners in the EAP program at the University of Alberta and volunteering as a conversation teacher at CCI-LEX.
Linda tutors at P.A.L.S. (Project Adult Literacy Society), Thorncliff School and privately. She has years of experience as a T.A. and community advocate in northern B.C. She was the coordinator for the Women's Resource Centre in Fort St. John, B.C.
