CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT- ESL AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS EXPERTS

Organization: NorQuest College - FACULTY OF FOUNDATIONAL, CAREER AND INTERCULTURAL STUDIES

Compensation: Commensurate with skills

NorQuest College is a leader in English language training. We have developed the curriculum, resources, and skills to provide top-quality instruction. We offer a variety of excellent English programs and courses to meet our students’ diverse needs. Canadian Language Benchmarks are an integral part of our programs.

Currently, NorQuest is working on an Essential Skills and Canadian Language Benchmark curriculum development project. The projects utilizes external resources to assist with project development. We are inviting Expressions of Interest for individuals who are interested in contributing to the project.

  • Develop LINC/ESL classroom material
  • Develop training materials for instructors
  • Review and modify developed curriculum

Experience teaching newcomers or developing curriculum for CLB 3-5 Essential Skills upskilling; Workplace Skills; Job Preparation; Workplace Culture is needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with project team to modify developed modules, lesson plans and PBLA assessment tasks for CLB 3 employment, CLB 5 employment, and CLB 5 certificates
  • Develop training materials for instructors
  • Develop curriculum guides for instructors
  • Observe classes using material and input to team on material
  • Project work as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching LINC; CLB 3 & 5
  • Experience teaching literacy students
  • Experience developing LINC modules, lesson plans and PBLA assessment tasks
  • Working knowledge of the Essential Skills
  • Essential Skills training prefered
  • Experience training instructors an asset
  • A keen sense of the big picture and an eye for details
  • Experience with course development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong curriculum knowledge and a proven ability to multi task
  • Strong relationship building ability to work cooperatively with other stakeholders
  • Can work independently while being a part of a project team
  • Must have excellent editing skills, attention to detail, be able to take initiative and adhere to deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 2010 software applications required

SALARY: This is fee for service contract. Specific deliverables will be established in conjunction with the developers based on areas of expertise.
