ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION ASSISTANT MANAGER

you an organized, accountable individual who loves to give back to the community?

That is what Care for Newcomers is all about, and we just happen to have an exciting opportunity for
you!
We’re looking for a responsible leader to become our ESL Assistant Manager who provides
mentorship to our staff and takes the initiative on the different admin tasks for the development of
our team and the success of our program.

A little about what you bring to Care for Newcomers:

  • A passion and focus on client and community service
  • Experience and/or training in teaching English as a second Language (TESOL Certificate)
  • You can establish and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externall
  • Knowledge of the settlement process and issues facing immigrants and refugees during their
    integration process
  • You have supervisory experience and demonstrate ability to work independently and manage
    own workload and time
  • Monday through Friday availability from 8:30am-4:30pm and some evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of Red Deer and Central Alberta community services and collateral agencies

    A little about what you’ll do:
  • Provide the leadership and mentorship to the staff in the Alternate ESL, and Childcare
    programs
  • Conduct performance reviews of all of the staff involved in the above program areas on an
    annual basis
  • Advise on recruitment and hiring of new staff and coordinate training for all staff in the
    program areas
  • Provide the administrative duties required for the various program areas under the ESL
    Manager
  • Ensure program curriculum is up to date and adheres to the standards as applicable
  • Ensure the on-site child-minding operation complies with applicable licensing regulations
  • Monitor the program area expenditures in accordance with the established budgets
  • Provide input for funding proposals
  • Development of Alternate ESL Provisions in the Community
  • Provide accurate reporting to funders as required
  • In close collaboration with the ESL Manager and external stakeholders, explore needs for
    additional ESL services in the community
