The Coordinator for the Language Instruction for Newcomers (LINC) program directly supports instructors and learners in attaining the goals set out for the LINC Program. The LINC Coordinator provides logistical support for Google Classroom and conducts orientation sessions for new learners about program policies and procedures and portfolio-based learning assessment (PBLA). The incumbent also provides administrative support to maintain accurate client records. The LINC Coordinator aligns their service approach with the mandate of IRCC and the trauma-sensitive, feminist-based, low-barrier principles of the YWCA Practice Framework.
This is a full-time position is a 37.5 hr/week position. Occasional evening and weekend work required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Provide support to learners with classroom and online delivery issues
• Develop and host orientation sessions, provide one-on-one digital literacy
support, and conduct evaluations of student learning to determine levels of
success and achievement of goals
• Liaise with LINC Supervisor to ensure successful PBLA implementation
• Work collaboratively with the LINC Admin team to facilitate referrals and
resources, provide support when the LINC Supervisor is away and perform
other related duties as assigned
• Provide LINC team with current information regarding resources and follow-up
communication-related to classes
• Maintain accurate and appropriate records, including relevant client file
documentation and statistics
• Use iCare and Penelope to maintain client data, enter attendance data and
client information
• Maintain a positive working relationship with clients, staff and volunteers
• Attend staff meetings, retreats, and other meetings as required by the program
and maintain current knowledge of relevant resources in the community
• Maintains positive working relationships with YW staff in other service areas,
agencies and funders (IRCC, CLARC etc.)
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• Post-secondary education from a recognized university or college
• Knowledge of PBLA and experience using Canadian Language Benchmarks
• Computer literacy skills, knowledge of settlement needs of refugees and
permanent residents; experience working with newcomers to Canada
• Experience teaching LINC and/or ESL, recognized ESL teaching certificate
(CELTA, TESOL)
• Strong communication skills, creative problem-solving skills, and ability to work
with diverse clients
• Proven ability working in a multi-disciplinary organization
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team with good
organizational and multi-tasking abilities
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to adapt to new situations and
challenges
• Knowledge of a second language an asset
• A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an
Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment
