Canadian Benchmark Assessments ‘For’ and ‘Of’ Learning

Effective instruction hinges on the utilization of appropriate assessment practices. As assessment provides essential information about program placement and ongoing information about the efficacy of instruction, it is an essential component of any ESL program. In this professional development workshop, Lucelle Prindle from Southern Alberta Language Assessment Services (SALAS Ltd.) will share her expertise about assessment practices. In particular, she will talk about SALAS Ltd. intake procedures and how assessment can be used to guide instruction based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks. This workshop will be of interest to any ESL educators or administrators interested in furthering their knowledge about assessment practices.
