May 29: Blended Learning in Settlement Language Programs

Introducing blended learning in settlement language programs

Martha Urquhart and Bonnie Nicholas will talk about the free resources available to everyone working in English language teaching through New Language Solutions and LearnIT2Teach, as well as the LINC courseware (populated and hosted Moodle courses) available to LINC instructor.. As well, we will have a sneak peek at the soon-to-be-launched avenue.ca, which will offer single sign-on for the LINC courseware, integration with Tutela, and an eportfolio option for PBLA.

Bonnie Nicholas has an MEd in TESL from the University of Alberta. She teaches in the LINC program at NorQuest College, where she has taught blended, online, and face-to-face classes. Her interests include continuing professional development, digital citizenship, and integrating language teaching and learning with digital technology. She also works with New Language Solutions as one of two mentors from NorQuest.

Martha Urquhart has an MA in Learning & Technology from Royal Roads University. She also teaches in the LINC program at NorQuest College, teaching blended as well as face-to-face classes. Her interests include finding ways to enable all students to access the learning they need or want to progress towards their goals. Martha works with Bonnie and New Language Solutions to offer mentoring on LearnIt2Teach.
