H5P Challenge Developing and Sharing Online Resources

Feb 09, 2018

ESL instruction is becoming increasingly digital, with numerous apps and programs available to assist with the acquisition process. Online platforms can enhance motivation for learners and provide unique learning opportunities that would otherwise not be available. At the November professional development event, the H5P open-source content collaboration framework (https://h5p.org/) was introduced to the Southern Alberta membership. The website provides downloadable materials and the framework to customize materials to be used in the classroom. In this professional development workshop, participants will be introduced to potential applications of the H5P framework in the second language classroom by Joerdis Weilandt and then invited to explore ways to use the framework to enhance learning in their specific classroom context. Computers will be available for use; however, attendees are encouraged to bring their own computers. At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will be encouraged to share their creations and to further explore ways of creating engaging online activities to foster language learning.
