How Can We Address Changing Demographics in ESL Classrooms?
Mar 29, 2017
Thank you to the ESL educators who completed the survey sent out around the New Year! Based on the results of the survey, the following preliminary event has been planned:
- How Can We Address Changing Demographics in ESL Classrooms?
- Insights and Strategies for Teaching Diverse ESL Learners
With the influx of refugees and other immigrants from diverse backgrounds, the composition of ESL classrooms has changed. In this panel discussion, teachers and administrators will share their observations about changing demographics in ESL classrooms and lessons derived from working with these populations. Audience participation will be encouraged through questions of the panel discussants and discussion following the presentation. The hope is that we as a community of ESL educators will support each other by sharing our collective experiences working with second language learners.
Please come and join in discussions about the changing/ diverse demographics of ESL classrooms and different strategies for meeting the needs of diverse learners. The panel discussion will be followed by an informal social event at the campus pub, the Zoo, located adjacent to the session in Turcotte Hall on the University of Lethbridge campus.
