Let’s Talk About: Dyslexia in the EAL Classroom
Oct 19, 2023

Please join us and guest host Jessica Leslie on Thursday, October 19th, at 4PM (MST).
Many people think dyslexia is when people see “saw” as “was” or switch “b” for “d.” While people with dyslexia can switch letters, that is only one small part of the challenges faced by someone who struggles with this reading disorder. In our session, we will look at all the various areas that dyslexia might manifest in an EAL classroom. In our group discussion times, we will talk about methods and activities that can help!
Topics for discussion will include:
- Did you learn anything new about dyslexia from the video?
- Were there any symptoms of dyslexia you were previously unaware of?
- Have you had dyslexic students (or suspected dyslexic students) in your classes previously? What were the habits the student(s) presented that made you aware of their dyslexia?
- What are some methods or activities that you used to support these students successfully?
Please email Donna Clarke for the ZOOM link to this session.
