Let’s Talk About Music and Singing in the EAL Literacy Classroom
Feb 16, 2023
Please join us and guest host Katrina Derix-Langstraat on Thursday, February 16th at 4PM (MST).
Maybe you love to sing in the shower, but wouldn't dare sing in public? Maybe you think your students would enjoy singing in class, but you don't know where to start?
There are many advantages to using music as a learning tool in EAL literacy classroom, but it is not a common practice. In this session we will explore some of the benefits of using music and singing with our learners. No musical training is necessary to be able to engage your learners in singing and using music to build their literacy skills.
Topics for discussion will include:
- What are the benefits of using music and singing as a teaching tool?
- How can we incorporate music and singing into classroom practice, and still
maintain a focus on literacy development?
