TESL Canada Teacher Certification Process and Options

This webinar aims to introduce the TESL Canada teacher certification framework and its applicability to employment as ESL instructors in Canada and internationally. The presenter will aim to describe among other things the standards requirements and various options to fulfill them. This webinar may be of interest to recent TESL programs graduates, members of provincial ESL teachers associations, and internationally trained ESL/EFL teachers.

Presenter Bio:

Dmitri Priven holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from and is completing his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies at Carleton University. He is professor and program coordinator in the Teachers of English as a Second/Foreign Language program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, and has been Chair of Standards with TESL Canada since 2015. He has extensive background in all aspects of teaching adult ESL in Canada and internationally, having taught in community-based programs, the private sector, and college and university programs, as well as in teacher education programs. His current research interests are Generative AI and academic integrity and form-focused instruction in EAP.
