Workshop summary:
Join Sara Gnida as she guides you through ATESL Best Practices and Resources for Indigenization. In this workshop, you will reflect on good practices and explore resources for Indigenization. We will work together to plan learning opportunities that 1) centre Indigenous voices, 2) weave Indigenous content into language learning activities, and 3) encourage communal learning and reflection. This workshop is tailored for ESL/EAL instructors who wish to play a part in fostering reconciliation as recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
Sara’s bio:
With over 35 years of experience teaching EAL and training EAL instructors, and as both writer and project manager of the ATESL Best Practices (2009, 2022), Sara Gnida is rooted in the ESL world here in Alberta. She is committed to inclusive, reflective and principled language teaching that ensures all are welcome, provides pathways to success, and invites learners to join us in the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
