Description:
As digital technology becomes increasingly embedded in everyday life, the ability to navigate digital environments is such an integral part of our lives—especially for adult English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. This presentation focuses on the intersection of language learning and digital literacy, emphasizing the importance of equipping EAL students with the digital skills necessary for communication, employment, and further education.
EAL teachers play a vital role in bridging this gap by embedding digital literacy into language instruction in culturally responsive and accessible ways. Attendees will explore practical strategies for teaching essential digital competencies, such as using online communication tools, accessing web-based resources, and understanding online safety—all within the context of language development.
The session will also highlight adaptable tools, sample lesson ideas, and success stories from adult EAL classrooms.
