This workshop looks at how task features like pre-task and online planning can influence learners’ speaking performance, with a focus on accuracy, fluency, and complexity. Drawing on recent research, it connects theory to real classroom practice and shares strategies that work. Participants will come away with a solid understanding of key TBLT concepts, insights into how task design shapes oral production, and practical ideas for creating and using engaging speaking tasks.
Presenter Bios
Echo Yuen: With 15 years of dedicated experience as an English language teacher, I am deeply committed to exploring effective strategies that support students in developing their English proficiency. One of my key areas of interest is leveraging task design to enhance language learning. I recently completed a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Alberta and am currently working as a casual instructor at NorQuest College.
Myoungjin Chun: A recent graduate from the TESL MEd program at the U of A. My ESL teaching experience includes working with university students and corporate employees as well as teaching general English, test preparation, and business English. I am particularly passionate about grammar teaching and learning.
