In this session Rebecca Scheiris and Patricia Ridgway will discuss how to incorporate 2SLGBTQIA+ content in the literacy classroom. They will look at blending content that includes gender and sexual minorities with common LINC themes such as employment and healthcare and share some ideas on how to simplify these concepts for literacy learners.

Topics for discussion will include:

• How can you include 2SLGBTQIA+ material in topics you commonly teach?
• What queer content have you taught in your class? What material or resources did you use?
• What challenges and successes have you had teaching 2SLGBTQIA+ material in your class?
• What are some ways you could use the new ATESL EDI resources with literacy learners?
