Let’s Talk About Sounds and Motion

Sep 18, 2025

SoundsMotionSept25

Please join us and guest host Emily Albertsen on Thursday, September 18th at 4PM (MST).

When we imagine learning to read and write, most people think of picking up a pencil and tracing the ABCs. However, there are many skills learners need before they are ready to print and many approaches to teaching that do not use pen and paper. Literacy classrooms are active, dynamic, vibrant spaces, filled with movement, language, and music.

This workshop is appropriate for anyone teaching CLB FL-4L, or anyone interested in adding more movement to their Stage I class. We’ll discuss hands-on approaches to developing literacy skills.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What are the skills learners need before beginning to print?
  2. How can you use music with your literacy learners?
  3. What are the advantages to hands-on learning?
  4. What are your favourite activities that use movement?

Please email DonnaClarke@Immigrant-Education.ca for the ZOOM link to this session.
