January 28 - Assessment CLB Writing: Profiles of Ability

The Calgary Local will be holding its first PD session for the year on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
Bob de Hoog, ESL instructor with Bow Valley College, will present Assessment CLB Writing: Profiles of Ability.

In this session, we will ponder such questions as: Is it useful to more clearly define terms such as “adequate control” or “good range”? Is there some agreement between instructors at different institutions about how these ideas affect assessment? Are there different ways to understand “idiomatic language” or “cultural references”? Would precise definition of these ideas allow learners to progress more quickly? This PD session will offer some ideas and ask for some suggestions regarding these questions about the profiles of ability listed in the CLB guide.

If you would like to join this session, please RSVP calgary@atesl.ca by January 27 and the link will be sent to you.

We hope to see you there!

Nancy Robertson, Co-chair; Priscilla Lee, Co-chair, and Peggy Jubien, Secretary/Treasurer
