Byte Into English: LINC 2

This instructor resource includes 28 lesson plans which give students the opportunity to learn English while developing basic computer skills. The lesson plans were written to be used with Microsoft Office 97 and its accessories. Many of the lesson plans are linked to themes and lessons found in “LINC 2 Classroom Activities.” Each lesson plan includes language competencies that are being developed (referenced to CLB 2), along with detailed instructions & teacher notes, vocabulary, lab assignments, worksheets, and answer keys. The “Word Processing” unit includes 18 lessons and uses Microsoft WordPad. It introduces learners to the use of punctuation, capitalization keys, editing text, formatting simple documents, and saving documents on floppy disks. The “Using the Internet” unit includes 5 lessons familiarizing learners to the size and organization of the web. In this unit, learners identify links, type URLs correctly, navigate through web pages, and read web pages for specific information. The “Computer Drawing” unit uses Microsoft Paint and introduces basic computer drawing techniques while teaching language related to shapes, maps, directions, and spatial terms.
