ELT Curriculum Guide

This ELT Curriculum Guide includes six Unit Planning Outlines for a course titled, “Enhanced Language Training for Skilled Immigrants in Engineering, Earth Sciences and Technology.” The six units include 1) a program introduction; 2) surveying and construction; 3) earth sciences; 4) the environment and alternative energy; 5) machines, transportation, automation; and 6) natural resources. For each unit, the following are specified: technical topics, tasks, strategies, functions/gambits, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, workplace knowledge, essential skills, and language skills. As well, resources are suggested for many of the suggested teaching points, as well as for the content area of each unit. The accompanying document titled "ELT Curriculum Overview" (also on this database) includes an overview of the entire course.
