Equipping for ESL Ministry: 30 hour training course
This training program is for Christian volunteers and tutors in church-based not-for-profit programs. The 308-page training binder covers the following topics: starting a church-based ESL ministry, needs assessment, teaching adult learners, culture, language learning, learning styles and strategies, strategies for teaching pronunciation and grammar, conversation classes, lesson planning, selecting materials, instructor roles, teaching methods, and using the Bible to teach ESL. The accompanying CD includes resources for the administration of a church based program, including resources for advertising, templates, assessment, lesson plans, needs assessment, registration, evaluation. It also includes resources related to the learners’ cultures, demographics, as well as resources for teaching pronunciation, grammar, conversation, and ESL Bible Studies.
